Ten-year-old, Jack Ashford, met God for the first time while seeking mercy for a mistake. He had just failed an errand and feared the punishment promised him when he returned home. In his desperation, he kneeled down in the snow and prayed for deliverance. During this moment of vulnerability, he experienced a profound, spiritual encounter with God.

 

When Jack returned home, miraculously, there was no punishment awaiting him. Jack understood that God had intervened and knew in his heart that his encounter with God that day had been real.

 

Jack’s spiritual journey began on that cold winter day. God soon led him to music and eventually Motown, where he became one of Motown’s key recording artists, The Funk Brothers. Jack recorded with The Funk Brothers under Berry Gordy at Motown’s Hitsville USA. This marked the start of his greatest adventure, spanning the entire classic Motown era.
